Stop! If you have not committed yourself to a long and tedious process, do not continue. It has taken me over 2 years to get this far. This process is not for the faint of heart. If you are serious, then continue. Question: Where do I begin? Answer: Get some reference materials. IF you cant borrow a suit to examine, then get one of those Marmit 1/6 scale Stormtroopers. Its a Japanese market toy that is every detailed. Ebay is a good source or try a google search. Be warned, these are not cheap! And don't get one of the Kenner Stormtrooper "GIjOEs" thinking they will sever as reference. These aren't very accuarate. Next, download some images form trooper references sites: here are a few to get you started: Print these images out on good quality paper as large as you can. If you have a computer that can screen capture images from DVD, consider grabbing some images from the Star Wars: A New Hope, Ep. IV. Get a copy of the Star Wars Visual Dictionary. Download the scale drawings* for each armor part, and print them out. A special Thanks to Israel Franco for his hard work bring these CAD images to life. Remember these are his interpretations of the armor, and is not exact to the screen used suits. Create your own version based on your own body shape. Next, consider starting out with the more simple molds, then working up to the more challenging ones. |
